A crew member who was reportedly suffering heart complications onboard Norwegian Cruise Line's ship Norwegian Joy has been hoisted off the vessel by the Coast Guard on Tuesday, October 8.
The cruise ship was sailing around 33 miles west of Coos Bay.
The 61-year-old Filipino man was flown to RiverBend Hospital, Springfield just before 2:00 p.m.
The condition of the crew member is unknown.
He is the second person to be medevaced off Norwegian Joy this week. On Monday, October 7, the Coast Guard in Washington at Neah Bay hoisted a 71-year-old passenger from the cruise ship. At the time of the accident, the NCL ship was sailing 20 miles off the coast of Cape Flattery WA.
Both medevacs occurred during the 5-day Alaskan relocation itinerary Oct 6-11 (RepositionCruises.com) from Vancouver BC to Los Angeles CA, visiting Victoria BC and San Francisco CA.
