VIDEO: Braemar Makes History as the Longest Ever Ship to Cruise Through the Corinth Canal

   October 10, 2019 ,   Cruise Industry

The largest vessel to ever pass through the Corinth Canal, southern Greece, amazed both the passengers on board and spectators Wednesday morning, October 9.

Fred Olsen's cruise ship Braemar passed through the famed Corinth Canal, offering beautiful and yet harrowing visuals, as she literally covered nearly the entire width of the Greek waterway.

Carrying over 1,200 passengers and crew onboard, the 196-meter (643-foot) long ship was, as per regulations, assisted by a tugboat along her passage through the canal in order to avoid any unwelcome consequences.

The mega-ship was so close to the canal's edges that passengers could reach out their hands and touch the trees on both sides of the waterway.
