The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man who apparently jumped from the balcony of Carnival Dream off the coast of Texas.
The USCG received a call at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, that a 26-year-old passenger on the vessel had gone overboard around 47 miles southeast of Galveston TX. A rescue helicopter crew and a plane have been deployed to assist in the search.
A Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson said that several cargo ships were also helping in the search.
The accident happened several hours after Carnival Dream departed Galveston and "based on camera footage, it appears the guest jumped from his stateroom balcony," the spokesperson said.
Carnival Dream departed from the port of Galveston TX on Thursday to embark on a 4-day round-trip Western Caribbean cruise.
