Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and Costa Cruises on Wednesday, November 6, celebrated the official float-out of Costa Firenze, Costa's 2nd ship designed and constructed specifically for the Chinese market.
The official ceremony was held at Fincantieri shipyard (Marghera, Italy), where the new cruise liner is being built with scheduled delivery on September 30, 2020, after the interior fittings have been completed.
As part of the float-out ceremony, Costa Firenze reached the sea for the first time. The celebrations followed the protocol provided by the seafaring tradition for the occasion, by flooding the basin where the cruise ship took shape, following the cutting of the ribbon and breaking of the bottle by the godmother Franca Pierobon, an employee of the shipyard.
Following the delivery scheduled for September 30, 2020, Firenze will head to Singapore, starting offering voyages for Chinese vacationers from October 20, 2020.
