Avalon Waterways announced that 15-time Emmy winner Meredith Vieira is due to serve as godmother of Avalon View when the new riverboat starts cruising on Danube in 2020.
Vieira, who has contributed to NBC Nightly News and Dateline NBC, is best known for her 10-year run on The View between 1997-2006 and her time on Today show between 2006-2011. She has hosted programs on 5 different broadcast networks and is currently working as the hosts of 25 Words or Less, Fox-syndicated game show that premiered in September.
Avalon View will be named in an official ceremony in Ybbs, Austria on April 6, next year. The 443-foot, 166-guest vessel will be all-suites. View will join Avalon’s all-suite fleet on the Danube river. Following the ceremony, the river ship will sail Danube itineraries for the rest of the year.
All of the suites in the river fleet, including Avalon View, feature open-air French balconies, which the company boasts as the largest in the river cruise industry.
