Norwegian Cruise Line hosted a christening ceremony on Thursday evening, November 21, in PortMiami Florida for its newest ship, Norwegian Encore.
More than 3,500 guests consisting of investors, travel partners, government officials, media, family and friends of NCL were invited to the pier-side celebration at PortMiami. After the traditional blessings, the newbuild's godmother and GRAMMY Award-winning artist, Kelly Clarkson, christened Norwegian Encore with a champagne bottle break across the Encore's hull. Guests were treated to a live performance of Clarkson's top-chart songs.
Beginning November 24, 2019, NCL Encore ship cruises on 7-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries roundtrip from Miami, also on Bermuda, and Canada-New England cruises from NYC New York (beginning April 22, 2020) and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami (beginning December 12, 2020). In spring 2021, the liner repositions via Panama Canal to the US West Coast and will operate Alaskan cruises out of Seattle WA.
