The largest ship of Marella Cruises - Marella Discovery, called on Port Colombo (Sri Lanka) to boost the local tourism industry, agents Aitken Spence Maritime announced in a statement. The tourism industry in Sri Lanka, including ship cruising, fell this year following the Easter Sunday attacks. However, confidence in the country is being rebuilt.
Aitken Spence Travels is the shore trip partner in Sri Lanka for the Marella Discovery ship. The company offered shore excursions for more than 800 passengers from the cruise liner, covering many locations near Colombo, historical sites, low grown tea estates, city tours in Galle, and Madhu Ganga river safaris. The trips are designed to create memories through experiences with architecture, culture, heritage, way of life, and cuisine.
Marella Discovery embarked on the voyage from the Persian Gulf and sailed past Cochin India to reach Colombo. The vessel will continue to cruise to Southeast Asian destinations.
