High winds stranded the cruise liner MSC Meraviglia in Puerto Costa Maya (Mexico). The ship's first cruise in 2020 was scheduled to depart from PortMiami to visit Ocho Rios Jamaica, George Town Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, and Ocean Cay Bimini Bahamas. Unfortunately, extremely high winds left the MSC Cruises ship unable to depart Thursday evening, January 2. As a result, guests had an extra day in Mexico.
Based on social media posts, it is clear that when the first guests aboard the ship found out about the situation, it was not yet announced that the itinerary would be revised. Upon learning the vessel would be spending most of Friday, January 3, in Costa Maya, and that the Captain hoped they would be able to depart at around 5 pm, the passengers learned of the change.
