Holland America Line announced it will not sail the February 1 ms Nieuw Amsterdam voyage because of an issue with one of the two azipod propulsion systems of the ship.
Instead of embarking on the 7-night Caribbean sailing, the vessel will head to Grand Bahama shipyard for repairs.
In an official statement, Holland America said that all guests and their travel advisors had been notified of the cancellation, and they sincerely regretted impacting passengers' vacation plans.
Guests booked on the cancelled voyage have the option to move to any other 2020 winter/spring 7-night Caribbean/Mexico cruise in an equivalent stateroom and receive a 100% future cruise credit. Passengers can also move to a trip in another region and apply cruise price paid, and receive a 50% future cruise credit.
MS Nieuw Amsterdam will resume her regular schedule on February 8.
