A man on a Carnival Cruise Line's ship was flown by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to a hospital in San Juan on Thursday, January 16.
In a video from the USCG, a 34-year-old man is being airlifted from Carnival Pride. Cruise authorities got in touch with the Coast Guard saying the patient was reportedly suffering from medical complications and was in need of further medical care, the U. S. Coast Guard said in a release on Sunday, January 19.
Crews successfully retrieved the man from the cruise ship that was located around 230 miles north of San Juan, Puerto Rico and flew him to a hospital that was prepared for his arrival.
At the time of the accident, Carnival Pride was on a 14-day, round-trip Southern Caribbean cruise which departed Baltimore, Maryland on January 5 and is returning on Sunday, January 19.
