Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras ship will be the company’s largest-ever at 180,000 GT when she debuts later in 2020. Vessel's launch (float-out from drydock) is scheduled for the next week.
Currently under construction at Meyer Turku Shipyard (Turku, Finland), the new passenger liner will be industry's first to have a true roller coaster. The vessel will be deployed year-round in the Caribbean and homeported in Port Canaveral FL USA.
The new Carnival Mardi Gras will introduce several fleet-first innovations, such as the BOLT (first rollercoaster at sea, Deck 19), a new restaurant by Emeril Lagasse, 6 themed zones offering beverage, food and entertainment options. The cruise liner will provide a wide range of staterooms (including over 180 suites) across 11 cabin decks.
Carnival Mardi Gras will also be the first LNG-powered cruise liner in North America, as part of Carnival Corporation’s “green cruising” initiative. Due to delayed delivery, the inaugural cruise starts on November 14, 2020, instead of the initially planned August 31st.
