For the second time in less than 2 weeks, poor weather prevented 2000+ cruise tourists from making a scheduled call in Australia's South West. Local retailers and tourism operators were advised of Sun Princess' stop cancellation through email Wednesday afternoon, January 22, following swells that hit up to 6 metres.
News of the cancellation came 12 days after that same ship was forced to cancel her January 10 visit to Busselton (Western Australia) due to poor weather that prevented her from leaving Albany (Western Australia).
The vessel was one of 2 expected to dock in Busselton over the weekend, both of which were expected to bring a USD 250,000 boost to the region's economy. Fortunately, the bad weather in Albany did subside, allowing CMV Vasco Da Gama to call at on January 11.
