In a first for the region, Port Nelson NZ will see the arrival of 2 simultaneous cruise ships on Sunday, January 26. The two liners, RSSC-Regent's Seven Seas Voyager and HAL-Holland America's Maasdam, are expected to bring more than 1800 high-value cruise passengers and crew to the region.
The 204-m vessel Seven Seas Voyager is carrying 700 passengers and 400 crew. Nelson is the final port of call on the ship's New Zealand itinerary, and the travellers are making the most of their time with pre-booked shore excursions, taking in the sights of Abel Tasman by foot and by air, authentic waka experiences, Nelson highlights, and wine regions, before heading to the Tasman Sea and Sydney NSW.
The 220-m ms Maasdam (arriving from New Plymouth) is carrying 1250 passengers and 580 crew. While some guests booked shore excursions, the majority will be touring the city and enjoying the best of what downtown and its surroundings have to offer.
