A Hurtigruten cruise ship captain battled choppy seas and strong winds while docking in Norway but was not able to prevent the vessel from hitting the harbour wall as she violently rocked.
The expedition ship MS Nordnorge was docking at Bodo harbour when she encountered harsh weather conditions on January 21. A video shows the vessel tilting towards the harbour wall as she is pushed along by winds during her attempt to berth.
Suddenly, the wind strengthened to around 30-35 m/s, leaving the captain to control Nordnorge with propulsion and an anchor.
The stern of the ship hit the pier first and the rest of MS Nordnorge then followed.
