The cargo and passenger shipping company Brittany Ferries, which operates the only ferry route linking Cobh-Cork (Ireland) with Spain (Santander), is to close it down as it’s deemed "financially unviable due to lack of use."
The twice per week ferry service was provided by the cruiseferry Connemara and terminated as transport companies prefer the alternative route Bilbao-Rosslare. Cancellations and refunds are currently being accepted as Brittany Ferries cease the unpopular ferry route.
The route had been opened 2 years ago although according to the company it was always going to be a trial period. Now they've decided enough is enough.
