Saga Cruises has chosen Port Portsmouth for the official christening ceremony of company's 2nd newbuild liner - the 999-passenger Spirit of Adventure.
According to Saga's managing director Nigel Blanks, the UK port city was steeped in maritime history and it would be "another first for Saga Cruises with Spirit of Adventure being the first-ever cruise ship to be named in this historic port.” The naming ceremony is scheduled for August 19, 2020.
The 17-night inaugural cruise of Spirit of Adventure will depart Dover UK to the Baltic on August 21. Further sailings scheduled for this year include the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Canaries, and Norway.
