Nippon Paint Marine signed a long-term supply contract with NCLH (Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings) to provide 13 NCLH-owned cruise liners with anti-fouling systems. The NCLH-Nippon Paint Marine agreement (signed in late-2019) is for supplying special coatings (low-friction SPC antifouling / A-LF-Sea) to 6 Oceania vessels, 5 RSSC-Regent vessels and 2 NCL ships - Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Dawn.

A number of ships have already been coated during drydocks with A-LF-Sea. The remaining vessels are planned to be coated during their scheduled drydocks in 2020.

Nippon Paint Marine’s LF-Sea paint is said to lower both CO2 emissions and fuel consumption as a result of reduced drag. Nippon is working with NCLH in the "verification, testing and performance monitoring of its biocide-free hull coating Aquaterras."
