A German cruise ship that was forced to dock in Dubai at the outset of the Coronavirus pandemic thanked the port city as she prepared to set sail for Europe. AIDAprima was in the Arabian Gulf last month when all major cruise companies suspended passenger shipping operations.
The vessel sailed to Dubai's Port Rashid where she has since been looked after by authorities. AIDAprima's passengers were disembarked and flown home. The liner is now scheduled to sail to Europe on Saturday, April 18, with an essential crew only.
On Wednesday, April 15, as a way of thanking Dubai for the port stay, AIDAprima's crew bid farewell with a personal touch. The windows of the ship were lit up to spell out “shukraan (thanks) Dubai. We love 2 c u again”. The cruise ship was not under quarantine and didn't have any Coronavirus cases onboard.
