On Monday, April 27, at 9 AM the top-luxury cruise ship Silver Origin (De Hoop Shipyard vessel #489) departed from the outfitting quay in Schiedam (Holland) for sea trials that are planned to last 3 days. The all-suite vessel has max passenger capacity 102 (plus 90 staff-crew), 8 decks (only 2 with cabins) and was launched (floated out from drydock) on December 30, 2019.
When Silversea starts Silver Origin's Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) itinerary program, the cruisers will benefit from the gourmet cuisine, premium staterooms (51 cabins in 8 suite grades) and dedicated butler service.
Enriching the experience are all-inclusive amenities like complimentary soft drinks, select wines, and premium spirits served throughout; in-suite minibar with snacks; complimentary Wi-Fi; 24-hour room service and in-suite dining; complimentary expedition gear on shore excursions/zodiac landings (raincoat, waterproof backpack, Silversea-branded metallic water bottle).
The Ecuador-flagged Silver Origin is one of the most modern-designed and environmentally friendly boats implementing top-notch maritime technologies and digital solutions specifically designed for cruising in the Galapagos Islands. The ship's dynamic positioning system allows it to maintain a stable position automatically and without anchors in order to protect the sea bed. The freshwater purification systems enable the vessel to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bottles. The wastewater treatment plant exceeds the industry's strictest regulations.
The ship's technological innovations complement Silversea's efforts to make a positive impact on the region's economic and natural environment. The company also contributes to Floreana Island Ecological Restoration Project - ecosystem restoration project aimed to remove invasive species thus protecting Floreana Island's endangered flora and fauna.
