A crew member has been found dead in his cabin onboard RCI-Royal Caribbean's liner Mariner of the Seas.
The crew member is a Chinese national who has not been part of the Mariner's crew for a long time. Therefore, it is unclear why the restaurant employee had still been onboard.
Mariner of the Seas is currently at anchor close to CoCo Cay Island (officially Little Stirrup Cay), privately leased and used exclusively by Royal Caribbean for cruise ship tourism purposes.
The Chinese man is the fourth death of a crew member within a short time regardless of the cruise company.
A week ago, a male crew of Jewel of the Seas committed suicide by jumping overboard. On Sunday, May 10, there was a similar case on Regal Princess, where a female crew jumped overboard. On Saturday, May 9, a male crew committed suicide on Carnival Breeze.
For other Mariner of the Seas accidents and incidents see at the ship's CruiseMinus page.
