Following the completion of the engineering stages, Ocean Residences Development have taken a step forward in the next stages of the development of MY NJORD.
DIV Shipbuilding owns Norway's Kleven Verft shipyard and Croatia's Brodosplit shipyard and will build MY NJORD. Both yards will be working on the construction of the new residential yacht of more than 290 m in length.
Brodosplit will be working on the majority of the steel construction of the hull and a significant part of the technical installations. The hull will be towed to Kleven Verft to complete the technical installations as well as carry out the interior fit-out ready for the scheduled delivery of the greatest luxury superyacht in the world in 2024.
MY NJORD will be constructed to the highest environmental specification with cutting-edge propulsions and battery technology to reduce emissions and include the use of sustainable materials.
The yacht’s designers have incorporated a professional atmospheric and oceanographic research laboratory containing sophisticated monitoring equipment, which will gather vital data for the benefit of the scientific community.
The equipment will boast the use of AI and include remote drones, 3D scanners, and an observatory with a self-leveling, gyroscopically stabilized telescope and retractable sliding glass roof.
Throughout the yacht’s annual circumnavigation of the globe, experts and scientists will research the changing environment, record sea, and air conditions, and map the ocean floor. All the information will be made available to further understanding of the planet’s oceanic secrets.
