Saga Group's new ship Spirit of Adventure will be inaugurated in November 2020, the cruise company announced. The vessel, which is the second newbuild in the fleet - following Spirit of Discovery - is scheduled to depart from homeport Southampton UK on November 5 to the Mediterranean.
Saga Cruises was forced to suspend the ship preview due to COVID travel restrictions. According to Iain Powell (Saga's head of trade sales), it was “unclear” if the cruise line would be able to reschedule the event. The company had previously announced a total of 39 itineraries for Spirit of Adventure and Spirit of Discovery as part of its 2021 boutique collection, available to book now.
David Pickett (Saga's newbuild director) said Spirit of Adventure will be “a true representation of the best of British innovation and flair.” The company also revealed that it had refunded GBP 44 million to customers for canceled holidays until August.
