The role of Port Milwaukee WI (Lake Michigan, Wisconsin) as a Great Lakes cruise travel destination is now taking a step forward due to a new agreement guaranteeing that here will be homeported the cruise ship MS Pearl Mist for 9 years (2021 through 2030), with an option for the small cruise company Pearl Seas Cruises to extend the service to 2040.
The lease was approved by the city's Board of Harbor Commissioners but also needs Common Council approval.
The new agreement provides priority docking rights at Milwaukee's downtown dock Pier Wisconsin (located east of Discovery World) for the Guilford (Connecticut USA)-based Pearl Seas Management LLC.
It guarantees MS Pearl Mist will use the pier for turnaround operations at least 5 times per year providing minimum annual rents of USD 42100 (starting in 2021), gradually increasing to USD 50000 (by 2026) and USD 60000 (by 2036).
Port Milwaukee will be where westward Great Lakes voyages end for cruise passengers. Once they leave, Pearl Mist will then commence eastward sailings for new passenger groups.
