The soon-to-be new Pacific Encounter sailed into Port Singapore and was greeted by her new P&O Australia ‘name badge’.
The ship's new P&O branding (on each side) weighs 3 tonnes and has length 20 metres. It displays in the traditional position on the funnel above top-deck.
The event marked the latest P&O AU fleet transformation. Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter will join Pacific Explorer during the coming months, signalling a restart for Australia’s homegrown cruise line.
According to Sture Myrmell (President of Carnival Australia and P&O Australia), that was also a sign of "P&O’s resilience and strength" as they looked forward to the "restart of cruising and the rebuilding of cruising" in the region. It was also a tribute to P&O’s loyal guests who had stuck by the company through those challenging times.
Pacific Encounter’s transformation is to be used as a template for the refit of Pacific Adventure later in 2021.
