RCI-Royal Caribbean International's liner Quantum of the Seas was forced to sail back to homeport early.
The cruise-to-nowhere from Singapore was shortened due to a passenger who had fallen ill at sea. According to an RCI's spokesperson, it was confirmed to be a medical emergency "unrelated to COVID-19."
The voyage ended up docking 7 hours early on January 20, instead of the scheduled 6 am on January 21.
Passengers onboard said while the ship docked early, guests were given the option to spend the night onboard before the planned for Jan 21 debarkation.
An onboard announcement made at 8 pm on January 20 explained the Captain's decision and provided reassurance it was not COVID-related.
Upon the ship's docking in Singapore., the passenger was immediately ambulanced and hospitalized.
