Azamara Cruises revealed plans to add the 4th ship to its fleet after Sycamore Partners, the new private equity owners, purchased Pacific Princess.
After a full renovation, the Renaissance-class vessel (similar to Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, and Azamara Pursuit) is scheduled to sail her inaugural season under a brand new name in Europe in 2022.
The news follows an announcement that Sycamore Partners has entered into an agreement to buy Azamara Cruises from RCG-Royal Caribbean Group. The deal is due to close in 2021-Q1.
Pacific Princess originally entered service in 1999 as R3 for Renaissance Cruises.
The sale of the 670-passenger ship to an “undisclosed buyer” was announced by Carnival Corporation last week.
