The World of Cruising reported that a cruise passenger from Saga Sapphire had gone overboard from the ship while the vessel had been cruising across the Atlantic.
Saga Cruises issued the following statement:
"During the morning of Sunday 13 December, whilst the Saga Sapphire was crossing the Atlantic, a passenger was reported missing by her traveling companion. Following a comprehensive search of the ship, she could not be found. Working in conjunction with maritime authorities the Saga Sapphire has turned round to conduct a search . . ."
Saga Sapphire was on a 35-day Caribbean voyage from Southampton.
The Mirror newspaper has also covered the story and wrote that the woman overboard had not been identified yet. She was reportedly a 70-year-old woman.
