The small-ship cruise company Sea Cloud Cruises announced it had decided to extend the suspension of sailings.
Most recently, the Hamburg-based company planned to resume cruises on March 17 with Sea Cloud 2, leaving out of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) on 7-day roundtrips in the Canaries. Two weeks after, the company planned Greek Island cruises. However, the restart of operations has been pushed back to May 7, 2021.
All sailings until the middle of August 2021 comply with current COVID-related restrictions and the line´s hygiene and prevention protocols have been certified by classification society DNV GL.
Via the inauguration of the 3-masted full-rigged ship Sea Cloud Spirit, the company will offer guests in the luxury segment an alternative to bigger cruise ships.
In 2021, Sea Cloud Cruises operates mainly roundtrip itineraries/starting-ending in the same port. Sea Cloud 1 is expected to start roundtrips to the Greek Isles from homeport Piraeus-Athens Greece on May 7.
Sea Cloud 2 on June 2, 2021, starts roundtrips from Villefranche-sur-Mer (Nice, France Riviera), alternating along Cote d'Azur and around Corsica Island.
The newbuild vessel Sea Cloud Spirit's maiden voyage starts from Civitavecchia-Rome on June 2, 2021.
