RCI-Royal Caribbean International announced details about its new "Cruise Terminal 3" at Pier 10 in Galveston Texas and its positive impact on the local economy.
The USD 110 million project is expected to generate ~400 Texas construction jobs and ~400 local operations jobs. The terminal will boast state-of-the-art technology, such as mobile check-in, and is to be designed and developed sustainably in order to meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification standards.
RCI is beginning preliminary construction works and targeting completion in late 2022, when Allure of the Seas, the line’s first Oasis Class ship, is scheduled to sail for the first time from the terminal. Galveston Wharves Construction & Maintenance team did utilities and site works during 2020-early 2021 to prepare the site for the construction.
Bringing Allure of the Seas to Galveston TX, the 4th most popular cruise port in North America is a driver for the terminal. Royal Caribbean’s first Oasis Class ship is also one of the largest cruise ships in the world and will host 5,400 passengers with world-class dining and entertainment.
