Celebrity announced that they would be the first company to restart voyages with passengers leaving from the USA, with the Edge ship.
Celebrity's CEO and President Lisa Lutoff-Perlo shared the news on social media.
Celebrity has been preparing for months, and the Edge's crew are at the final stage of welcoming passengers again.
The liner was in Fort Lauderdale Florida on Wednesday, May 26, where the 2nd batch of crew members was vaccinated against COVID-19. The first batch received the first dose and in the next weeks, all crew members onboard will be fully vaccinated.
The first American woman to command a large cruise liner - Captain Kate McCue - will join Celebrity Edge in June ahead of the restart.
On June 26, Celebrity's Edge boat is scheduled to depart from Fort Lauderdale on a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary visiting Mexico (Costa Maya, Cozumel) and Bahamas (Nassau). The ship will sail at reduced capacity with a fully vaccinated crew and guests over the age of 16.
