CCL-Carnival Cruise Line's ship Carnival Dream was forced to make a detour during her Transatlantic repositioning voyage from Miami Florida to Marseille France.
The liner approached Funchal (Madeira Island, Portugal) on Monday, June 7, and anchored close to the port to disembark a crew in need of medical assistance. The patient was medevaced via a boat and transferred to the Hospital da Luz by ambulance.
Madeira Port Authority confirmed the crew's medical evacuation. Two boats approached the cruise ship - one to evacuate the man and the other for inspection by the Maritime Authority.
The liner continued the voyage to Marseille where will undergo a drydock including a new paint scheme to match Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Magic paint job, which was done in France.
