On Wednesday, June 23, Swan Hellenic announced that Helsinki Shipyard had floated the line's SH Minerva out of the dry dock. Her twinship, SH Vega, was floated in a drydock on the same day.
A few days earlier, steelwork production commenced for the 3rd and biggest vessel commissioned from Helsinki Shipyard, which is currently under the project name Vega 3. The fleet of Swan Hellenic is coming together on schedule to take adventurous voyagers on a range of distinctive journeys, some of which entirely sold out.
The trio of ships is designed for minimal environmental impact and to comply with the latest emission standards, while being battery-ready for emission-free silent sailing in port, wildlife and marine reserves.
SH Minerva boasts a 5-MW diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system with selective catalytic reduction along with a PC5 (polar class 5) ice-strengthened hull that is Safe Return to Port certified. At 115 m (377 ft), the 10,500 GT-ton vessel has been designed for worldwide navigation.
Providing spacious 5-star accommodations for 152 passengers in 76 staterooms (most with large balconies), SH Minerva will be operated by a team of 120 to offer the highest levels of personal service. The latest hygiene technology is expected to protect the health of all onboard to the highest standards and features air conditioning with HEPA filters and UV sanitization systems.
Designed for immersive experiences, SH Minerva boasts 9 decks, a marine life library, expedition laboratory, and observation lounge for lectures by specialists from a range of disciplines and expert expedition leaders. Expedition trips by zodiacs are a central feature of the programs along with trekking, kayaking, and other activities. The onboard amenities feature a panoramic restaurant, spa, sauna, gym, pool deck with a bar, and club lounge offering world-class cuisine.
SH Minerva is scheduled for delivery in October 2021, SH Vega in spring of 2022, and the 3rd ship (Vega 3) in autumn of 2022.
