Costa Firenze became the 4th Costa Cruises' ship to sail again in 2021, following Costa Smeralda, Costa Luminosa, Costa Deliziosa, after the line restarted guest operations.
The week-long itinerary of Costa Firenze is entirely dedicated to Italy with 6 destinations, including Savona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari, which can be explored via dedicated excursions, due to port calls lasting more than 10 hours. From the end of July through the end of August, passengers will also have the opportunity to visit and rediscover Malta, with a call in Valletta.
Following the planned October 2020 inauguration, Firenze was scheduled for a month-long Mediterranean cruise season. The inaugural itineraries were planned from homeports Trieste and Savona. On November 2, 2020, had to start the 51-day repositioning cruise from Europe to China (Savona to Hong Kong via Suez Canal) for year-round deployment in East Asia. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the ship's delivery was delayed and the inaugural cruise program canceled.
On December 22, 2020, following the successful completion of sea trials off Sicily Island, Firenze was officially delivered to Costa Crociere by Fincantieri Marghera.
From September 12, 2021, Firenze will expand her itinerary to France and Spain, cruising to Savona, Rome (from Civitavecchia), Naples, Ibiza, Barcelona, Marseille.
During the 2021-2022 winter, the ship will be positioned in Dubai (Port Rashid). The 7-day cruises will call in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Oman, with ports of call including Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat as well as a multi-day stopover in Dubai, with packages for visits to Expo Dubai 2020, as the cruise line is the Gold Sponsor of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020.
