The Genting Cruise Lines restarted operations in Hong Kong China on July 30 with Genting Dream ship’s maiden voyage of the first “Super Seacation” (cruise to nowhere) itinerary.
The new "high seas voyages" provide Hong Kong residents with a “staycation’ (portless) option that evokes the sense of a “vacation away.” 1000+ passengers took part in the inaugural voyage.
Before the departure from Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, an inaugural ceremony was attended by Edward Yau Tangwah (GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development), Yiu Si-wing (SBS, Legislative Councillor of Tourism Constituency of HKSAR, Legislative Council of the HKSAR), Vivian Sum (JP, Commissioner for Tourism), Pang Yiu-kai (GBS, JP, Chairman, Hong Kong Tourism Board) and Kent Zhu (President of Genting Cruise Lines/Dream and Star brands).
In preparation for welcoming the first passengers onboard, since her arrival in Hong Kong in early June 2021, Genting Dream's crew has been implementing new health and operating protocols in order to ensure the vessel complies with Hong Kong shore regulations to provide a safe environment for everyone onboard.
All crew members have been fully vaccinated 2 weeks before the inaugural voyage and guests will need to be fully vaccinated 2 weeks before their departure date (unless exempt due to age-related or medical reasons) and must pass a COVID PCR test 48 hours before departure.
