An 84,800 GT residential yacht called MY NJORD with a total of 117 apartments is to be completed for ORD-Ocean Residences Development Ltd. by the end of 2025.
The new cruise ship has LOA length 289,3 m, width 33,5 m and can accommodate ~1000 people (crew plus passengers).
The order is still subject to financing.
MY NJORD has a special superyacht design and is expected to meet the most stringent environmental requirements. The ship will be powered by state-of-the-art LNG engines and boasts the most modern heat recovery systems and advanced energy management systems onboard.
The Meyer Werft newbuild features low-emission LNG propulsion, which along with a hybrid battery system provides a speed of 22 knots / 41 kph / 25 mph. NJORD's engines and fuel tanks are prepared for easy conversion to future fuels with lower/neutral carbon footprints.
Unlike the classic ships, prospective customers will be able to buy apartments onboard. The ship has a purpose to become home to a community sharing a passion for travel. NJORD is equipped to conduct scientific and oceanographic research wherever she sails, supporting missions, charities, and urgent causes.
Via a collaboration with scientific groups and oceanographic research organizations, MY NJORD will fund research projects and advance global ocean science.
