AROSA Cruises' eco-friendly newbuild which is scheduled to set sail in May 2022 will be named A-ROSA Sena. The project was initially announced under the name "A-Rosa E-Motion Ship".
The name Sena is from the Arabic language (a variant of Sana) and means beauty/grace.
Arosa Sena is currently under construction at the Concordia Damen shipyard in Werkendam (close to Rotterdam Holland).
She will start cruising on the Northern Rhine on May 21, 2022, with a 7-night voyage from Cologne Germany visiting Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Antwerp.
The new riverboat will boast an ‘E-Motion’ concept which is innovative and a first on the rivers. A hybrid propulsion system combines a diesel engine and a separate electric engine powered by batteries. When approaching a port, the vessel can switch to battery power in order to arrive silently and emission-free.
Arosa Sena will be the largest cruise ship in the fleet and the first on the Rhine to feature 5 decks. The boat has length 135 m, width 17,7 m (most European riverboats have max-width 12 m), 140 staterooms (spread over 4 decks).
Sena's most impressive features include a kids club (indoor playground), a kids pool, family cabins.
