The small-ship company Coral Expeditions (fleet) announced 5 new South Australian cruises aboard Coral Geographer boat over the period December 2021 - January 2022.
The new intrastate voyages continue the brand’s strategy of an all-year domestic deployment amidst travel restrictions.
With a roundtrip itinerary from Adelaide and departures within the next months, the voyage provides passengers with a reliable cruising alternative and a chance to see some of South Australia's most remote destinations.
Expedition cruising in Australia is not new to the company, having conducted a series of pioneering sailings in the area earlier in 2021. South Australia’s gulf waters and islands are one of the lesser-known stretches of Australia's coastline.
According to Jeff Gillies, Coral Expeditions Commercial Director, the company was enthused to return to South Australia.
“We ventured into South Australia for the first time earlier this year. The people and communities of South Australia welcomed us with open arms and our guests were inspired by the unique natural environs which are ideally suited to our style of adventures. The feedback from guests and crew alike give us great confidence to return and to make South Australia a regular feature of our annual sailing schedule over the summer months”.
Joining the cruises is writer, guest lecturer, and Kangaroo Island conservationist Quentin Chester who is expected to share his local knowledge.
South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex welcomed the interest in South Australian expedition cruising and the additional cruises booked for SA during the summer.
The Adelaide-homeported voyages stay completely within the state border of South Australia, providing confidence for passengers in these uncertain times. Sailing with permission from authorities and under the industry-leading SailSAFE protocols, Coral Expeditions completed 75+ accident-free cruises since October last year on its Australian-flagged vessels.
Prices for the 10-night "Wild Islands & Walks of South Australia" itinerary (December 13, 2021; December 23, 2021; January 3, 2022; January 13, 2022; January 23, 2022) aboard Coral Geographer start from US$6,390 per person with double occupancy.
