Phoenix Reisen’s Amera ship is expected to dock on Saturday, September 18, at the Port of Santander (Spain Cantabria) with 617 passengers onboard, being the first cruise ship call there since cruise activity had been halted due to the COVID crisis.
The vessel (ex "MS Prinsendam" of Holland America) will enter the port at 9 am, arriving from Ferrol (Spain Galicia) and is scheduled to leave at 5 pm, departing for Bordeaux (France).
Of the 617 passengers (mainly Germans), a total of 195 will take a city tour to see its major attractions, while 136 tourists will benefit from a twin-destination trip between Santillana del Mar and Santander. The boat's 460 crew also sail onboard.
Both crew and passengers will visit the port city and its province, under the health measures established by both the cruise company, the national and local authorities.
The cruise call of AMERA marks the start of cruise ship activity, which is expected to increase in the next months, as cruise ships are becoming active, and lines continue to plan new itineraries.
The authorities will present a commemorative medallion to the captain of the ship to celebrate the arrival of the first post-COVID cruise to Cantabria.
