Celebrity Apex was officially launched on Tuesday, November 2.
Celebrity Cruises held an official naming ceremony at Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) to celebrate the newest vessel in the fleet, which included introducing the Godmother and giving Celebrity Apex a proper sendoff.
Reshma Saujani, founder of the non-profit Girls Who Code and author of the bestseller, “Brave, Not Perfect,” served as the godmother of the newbuild.
With the official christening ceremony complete, Celebrity Cruises' Apex is ready to commence her U.S. season. The liner was originally due to start sailings in March last year, but the COVID crisis halted those plans.
After a short run of Greek Island cruises earlier this summer, Celebrity Apex will offer rotating Eastern & Western Caribbean itineraries.
The 2020-built/2021-inaugurated Celebrity Apex cruise ship (initially named "Celebrity Beyond") is the second of all five EDGE-class passenger liners - with sisterships Celebrity Edge (2018), Celebrity Beyond (2022), TBN1 (2023), and TBN2 (2024).
The vessel (IMO number 9838383) is Malta-flagged (MMSI 215105000) and registered in Valletta.
