MSC Cruises celebrated the official naming of its newest liner - MSC Seashore, which is also the largest cruise ship built in Italy.
The christening event took place on Thursday (November 18) at the private Bahamian island Ocean Cay Marine Reserve with the world-popular Italian actress Sophia Loren, serving as the Godmother of all MSC's newbuilds since 2003.
MSC Seashore's cruise director Gene Young was the Master of Ceremonies for the event attended by MSC top-rank employees (Pierfrancesco Vago /MSC's Executive Chairman, Gianni Onorato /MSC's CEO, Ruben Rodriguez /MSC North America's President, Allen Clifford /MSC USA's Executive VP), as well as major stakeholders, travel agents, media. Live onboard performed Nile Rodgers (1952-born American guitarist, singer, songwriter) and his band "Nile Rodgers & Chic" (1972-founded as "The Big Apple Band").
This was the world's first-ever ship naming ceremony held on a private island.
On the same day was launched/floated out from drydock the sistership MSC Seascape.
The 2021-built Seashore is MSC's 19th liner and also the first Seaside EVO-Class vessel.
The christening of MSC Seashore was also a chance to officially inaugurate Ocean Cay (MSC's Bahamian private island) that welcomed the first passengers back in December 2019 and then closed due to the COVID crisis.
