The latest cruise liner to report a COVID outbreak is Costa Firenze that recently started sailing from homeport Dubai UAE.
~30 positive crew were disembarked in Port Dubai and were transferred to a hotel quarantine on Wednesday, December 29.
~40 crew (identified as close contacts) are currently quarantined on the ship. The crew gym was closed, while the Mess Hall (crew bar lounge) was still open but drinking was not allowed.
Costa Cruises said anyone, regardless of whether it is a passenger or a crew member who is not following the health and safety protocols, especially the face masks policy, would be disembarked in the next call port.
There are ~1600 passengers plus ~1310 crew on Costa Firenze. The liner is sailing 7-night roundtrips from Dubai to Abu Dhabi (UAE), Doha (Qatar), and Muscat (Oman).
