NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line announced the cancellation of sailings on 8 ships, citing "ongoing travel restrictions."
Norwegian Getaway's voyage set to embark on a 9-day Caribbean itinerary was canceled "due to COVID-related circumstances" on Wednesday, January 5, the same day it was scheduled to start.
Norwegian Pearl returned to PortMiami Florida on Wednesday following a day at sea, cutting short a cruise that was scheduled to return to PortMiami on January 14. A number of COVID cases among the crew members prompted the move. Norwegian Pearl sailings with embarkation dates through January 14 were canceled.
Cancellations of Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Sun, and Pride of America cruises were also announced on Wednesday.
Some of the cancellations affect voyages through dates in April 2022.
A statement by NCL said their first priority was the health and safety of their guests, crew, and the communities they visit.
Passengers booked on affected voyages receive automatic full refunds as well as a certificate valid for a future cruise.
NCL has a vaccination requirement for 100% of passengers and crew and requires pre-embarkation testing for everyone.
