A 2nd cruise ship is being added to the fleet of UK start-up company Ambassador Cruise Line UK (new brand) in 2023, signaling its confidence in the cruising sector.
The 1200-passenger ship was been purchased for an undisclosed sum from Costa, which operated it as AIDAmira for German cruise line AIDA.
The 1999-built vessel will be renamed Ambition and undergo extensive drydock refurbishment and technical upgrades (as the fleetmate Ambience), including installation of the latest emission reduction technologies.
This will reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by ~95% compared to current standards, according to the company.
Along with installing updated ballast & sewage water treatment systems, both ships in the Ambassador's fleet will be among ~10% of the current world cruise fleet authorized to sail in environmentally protected seas.
Ambition is joining Ambience in ex-UK voyages predominantly targeting the 50+ source market with a “premium-value, authentic cruise experience”.
Ambience is scheduled to enter service in April and is designed to accommodate up to 1400 guests in 798 staterooms.
In addition to London-Tilbury (England), the cruise line’s 2nd ship will run regional departures in summer 2023 from UK ports like Belfast, Bristol, Dundee, Falmouth, Liverpool, Newcastle.
The full program is being finalized and due to be on sale from the spring months.
