RCI-Royal Caribbean officially welcomed the fleet's newest liner - Wonder of the Seas, delivered from the French shipbuilder on Thursday of its 5th Oasis Class vessel.
With LOA length 1188 ft (362 m) and GT-tonnage/volume 236,857 tons, the 6988-passenger liner is the 5th Oasis Class vessel and currently the world’s largest passenger ship - followed by Symphony of the Seas.
Following a 3-year shipbuilding period, an official flag-changing ceremony took place in Marseille Fos Port (France) to commemorate the transfer of the newbuild to Royal Caribbean from the shipbuilding company Chantiers de l'Atlantique (based in St Nazaire France).
Present at the delivery ceremony were RCG-Royal Caribbean Group's Chairman Richard Fain, RCG's President & CEO Jason Liberty, RCI's President and CEO Michael Bayley, and the shipbuilder's General Manager Laurent Castaing.
The 5th of the revolutionary Oasis Class debuts adventures for all ages across entertainment, dining, nightlife, and thrills, on March 4, in Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades, Florida), before sailing to the Mediterranean in May. Highlights onboard include 8 unique neighborhoods, featuring the Suite Neighborhood, an interactive, open-air kids' play area - Wonder Playscape - a new restaurant & bar, The Mason Jar, and more.
