Princess Cruises announced that its newest ship, Discovery Princess, had been delivered on Monday, January 31, during an official handover at Fincantieri's shipyard in Monfalcone (Italy).
Discovery Princess expands the line’s fleet to 15x MedallionClass ships and features an evolution of the design platform used for the previous Royal-Class liners.
After departing from Italy, Discovery Princess will sail from Los Angeles (Long Beach-San Pedro, California) on a series of Mexican Riviera & California Coast voyages between March 27-April 24 before offering 7-day Alaska cruises from Seattle (Washington USA).
The official handover ceremony was attended by Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division General Manager Luigi Matarazzo, Princess Cruises President John Padgett, Capt. Gennaro Arma and other officials.
The 3660-passenger Discovery Princess will offer an array of innovative experiences, world-class dining options, 270-degree views in the Sky Suites, and Broadway-style production shows. The newbuild uses the latest technologies to treat wastewater, reduce fuel consumption, and support environmental compliance efforts.
