DCL-Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship - Disney Wish, will be delayed by 6 weeks, following Meyer Werft's Papenburg shipyard delays due to the COVID crisis.
The vessel, which will be the line's biggest yet, is set for a July 14, 2022, inaugural cruise, meaning the first dozen voyages, all of those scheduled through July 18, are now canceled.
Passengers booked on affected sailings will have the option to receive a full refund or to rebook a Disney Wish cruise by December 31, 2023, at a 50% discount.
Anyone booked on the original inaugural voyage on June 9, 2022, will be shifted to the new one on July 14. Vacationers with bookings for the original Disney Vacation Club Exclusive Cruise on June 14 will be shifted to the new one on July 19.
Because the newbuild is so popular, staterooms booked up almost immediately. Specific cabin reservations were so competitive even before the cancelations were announced so they could be more difficult to schedule now for those opting for the 50% discount.
Despite the delays, DCL said the ship was still scheduled to float out at the yard next week, weather permitting.
