  Port Map

Beaver Island is the biggest isle in Lake Michigan. It is part of the Beaver archipelago and was once home to a uniquely American religious monarchy ("Mormon kingdom"). Today, the island is a popular tourist destination.

Beaver Island lies 32 mi (51 km) from Charlevoix city (Quebec) on mainland Canada and can be reached by boat or aircraft. The island features two airports - a public and a private one.

The island is famous mostly for its forests, beaches, and recreational harbour.

During most of the year, Beaver Island Boat Company runs an auto ferry service out of Charlevoix. Daily service is available May through September, and the ferry is closed January through March. Cruisers are advised to check the weather before boarding because rough waves often cause "seasickness". Visitors who wish to bring their own vehicles have to make reservations in advance. The trip takes just over 2 hours (up to 2 1/2 hours) depending on the weather and which of the ferries is used.
