Bodo is a municipality and town in Nordland county, Norway. It's part of the traditional Salten region and the capital of Nordland county. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Bodo. Other villages in Bodo include Fenes, Kjerringoy, Misvaer, Loding, Lopsmarka, Skjerstad, Saltstraumen, Sorvaer.
Located north of the Arctic Circle, this is the biggest city and urban area in Nordland county, and the 2nd-largest in North Norway. Salten Museum and Norwegian Aviation Museum are both located here. Salten Museum has 4 exhibitions: The Lofoten Fisheries, a Viking treasure, a Sami exhibit, and an exhibition about the town's history from 1816 to 2000.
The Cathedral was built in 1956. It represents post-war architecture, whereas the Bodin Church outside the city centre dates from the 13th century, representing a medieval stone church.
Bodo is the main hub for travel to the Lofoten Islands. In addition to the regular flights to Rost Island, there is also a ferry service to Moskenes from Bodo.

Bodo is one of the ferry ports along the "Express Route" - Norway's Government subsidized "Norwegian Coastal Express". This is a regularly scheduled passenger and cargo shipping service in Norway. The "ferry and cruise" itinerary is between two turnaround ports - Bergen (southmost) and Kirkenes (northmost). It connects a total of 34 ports, which are Norwegian communities without any road or air access.
Since January 2021, Norway's coastal ferry service is operated by two companies - Hurtigruten (7 ships) and Havila Shipping (4 ships). The Norwegian Government's annual subsidy for the ferry service is around USD 100 million.
