Brandenburg an der Havel (Germany Brandenburg)

Brandenburg is a Havel River cruise port and city in Germany's Brandenburg state (Havelland district) with population around 70,000. As the town is on a navigable river, cruise ships through Brandenburg have the choice of 2 routes. The original route uses Brandenburg City Canal (length 4 km / 2,5 mi) through downtown. As this route is limited (allowing riverboats only), commercial shipping traffic uses Silo Canal (through the city's eastern and northern parts).

Dominsel (Cathedral Island) is city's historic heart with its oldest building - Brandenburg Cathedral (St Peter and St Paul) completed in the 14th-century. The Wagner organ was installed in 1725, making it one of Germany's oldest original Baroque organs. The early-15th-century churches St Katharinen Kirche (in Neustadt) and Sankt Gotthardt Kirche and the Old Town Hall are other popular Baroque-style buildings. Town's medieval city wall has 4 well-preserved watchtowers - two in Old Town and two in New Town. Other best-known tourist attractions include Industrial Museum, Brandenburger Theater, Brandenburger Symphoniker (professional symphony orchestra), several archaeology-themed museums.
