Bylot Island is located in Nunavut Canada and off Baffin Island's northern end (to the southwest). By land area (approx 11067 km2 / 4273 mi) the island is ranked the world's 71st and Canada's 17th largest.

The island was discovered by the British explorer Robert Bylot in 1616. It has a width of 180 km (110 mi) and length 110 km (68 mi) and is one of the world's biggest uninhabited islands without permanent settlements, However, Inuit people from Pond Inlet (northern Baffin Island) regularly travel to Bylot for seasonal hunting. Their camp is southwest of Cape Graham Moore.

Almost the entire island is part of Sirmilik National Park. Bylot's north coast is a polar bear maternity area. Other wildlife found on the island includes beluga (white) whales, bowhead whales, harp seals, narwhales (with a large tusk), ringed seals, large populations of seabirds (thick-billed murres, black-legged kittiwakes snow geese).
